Non Traditional Wedding Vows

Non traditional wedding vows can be simply defined as the vows that you write from the heart. In most religions and wedding ceremonies, the vows uttered by the couple are patterned after the eternal taglines of happily ever after. If you’re going to write non-traditional wedding vows, there will be no formulas. Everything would be said from the bottom of your heart.

Here are some tips that you can use when writing non traditional wedding vows:

1. Use popular lines and quotes.

Be creative in writing your non traditional wedding vows by adding famous quotes about love, trust, and companionship. There are many books out there that you can refer to or you can simply pick your favorite verse from a poem to go along with your vows.

2. Say your vow through a song

If you can sing, why not sing your wedding vow instead of just reciting it? This is an example of a truly non-traditional wedding vow that would be remembered for the rest of time. You can also just use a line from your favorite song and add it to your written wedding vow.

3. Write a story

Instead of just describing the amount of love and affection you have for your partner, why not write your love story instead? Start on the day that you first met, your first impressions, the day of your first date, first kiss, and every single event that serves as your relationship highlights.

4. Say how much you feel for your partner

False praises and flattery would get you nowhere – especially not on your wedding day. Vows are best said if you feel them. Put into words all the wonderful things that you see and feel about your partner. Make sure that he or she feels the sincerity in your words.

5. Talk about your promises

Traditional or not, wedding vows are all about your present and future promises to your partner. This is where the ‘till death do us part’ clause comes in. But since you’re writing wedding vows that are not traditional, you can rephrase that or state an entirely different promise that your partner can hold on to for the rest of your lives together.

The vows are not too hard to make. Follow these tips and you’ll surely create something that will make the event even more special. Non traditional wedding vows are for people who would like to stray away from the ordinary and make their wedding day very memorable.
